Does residence automatically lead to citizenship?
No. Nationality has separate legal requirements and should be assessed on its own basis.
Can you assess citizenship by descent?
For Portuguese nationality, yes where the family and documentary history supports a route within our direct legal scope. For other jurisdictions, we first confirm whether appropriate local legal support is available.
Do nationality rules change?
Yes. Nationality rules and procedures can change. The legal basis should therefore be assessed under the rules applicable to the person’s actual filing and procedural position, rather than from an older summary.
