What are you trying to do?
Establish residence
What we would clarify firstWhat will support the residence basis, and where will the application be made?
Worth examiningCompare the route families that fit the actual facts before naming a visa.
Work remotely
What we would clarify firstIs the activity employment, independent contracting or business-owner work?
Worth examiningRemote-work frameworks may be worth examining where the country and work structure support them.
Work or build locally
What we would clarify firstWhat is the real work or business activity, and which professional questions sit beside immigration?
Worth examiningEmployment, entrepreneurial or other residence frameworks may need separate analysis.
Move through family
What we would clarify firstWho holds the main legal basis, and is the family moving together or in stages?
Worth examiningFamily routes and documentary dependencies are considered around the actual relationship and timing.
Use investment in the strategy
What we would clarify firstWhich residence category is being considered before any investment decision is treated as an immigration step?
Worth examiningInvestment-linked residence frameworks may deserve examination where factually relevant.
Renew or change status
What we would clarify firstWhat status exists now, what is changing, and which deadlines or dependencies are already in motion?
Worth examiningThe next legal step may be renewal, conversion or a different route rather than a new first application.
Portugal routes
The immigration service now separates the routes that actually need separate reasoning.
Residence visas
D7, D8, D1, D2 and other residence bases should be compared around the income, work and family facts.
Work routes
Highly qualified work, Tech Visa and EU Blue Card are related questions, not interchangeable labels.
Family
Residence-visa accompaniment, resident-sponsor reunification, temporary-stay accompaniment and EU-family residence use different frameworks.
EU mobility
CRUE, EU-family cards and permanent EU residence sit under the separate free-movement framework.
Temporary stay
Qualifying stays under one year have their own visa logic and should not be confused with residence visas.
Already here
Residence-permit stages, renewals, qualifying status conversion, permanent residence and citizenship are separate next-step questions for people who already live in Portugal.
What we can support
Know what the file actually needs.
Residence visas & temporary stay
Family accompaniment & reunification
EU citizen & EU-family residence
Work, highly qualified & Tech Visa routes
ARI / investment residence
Residence permits, renewals, status conversion & long-term status
Before we build the file
Sometimes filing is not the next step.
If the route, evidence or timing is not ready, we may recommend fixing the gap, changing the sequence or reassessing the route before the application is built.
Route
The facts may point to a different residence basis.
Evidence
The route may be right but the available evidence may not yet support it well enough.
Timing
A filing can be technically possible while another dependency makes waiting more sensible.
Geographic responsibility
Portuguese immigration legal work is led by Vanessa Mororó, Chapter Europe's Co-Founder & Legal Director. Where Spain, Italy or Greece is involved, Chapter coordinates with appropriately qualified local counsel for jurisdiction-specific legal work.
Questions we hear
Do I need to know the name of the visa before speaking to you?
No. Your circumstances are a better starting point than a route label.
Do you guarantee approval?
No. Decisions are made by the competent authority; our role is to assess, prepare and coordinate the matter professionally.
Can immigration and relocation run together?
Often yes. The useful sequence depends on the route, accommodation, family and filing timetable.
Is family reunification the only way my family can move?
No. Portugal has distinct mechanisms for family accompaniment at the residence-visa stage, resident-sponsor family reunification, temporary-stay accompaniment and EU-family residence. The principal applicant’s status and timing determine the framework.
Is Tech Visa the same as a general highly qualified route?
No. Tech Visa includes an employer-certification layer. D3, Tech Visa and EU Blue Card should be compared against the actual employer, role, qualification, remuneration and contract structure.
Can you help if I already live in Portugal?
Yes. Portuguese immigration work can begin with the status you hold now. Residence-permit stages, renewals, qualifying status changes or conversion, family, permanent residence and longer-term planning can be scoped without treating the matter as a new first application.
